Amazon App: Wallet & Homepage Reimagined
Amazon 4-Star was a physical store where customers could grab items and scan a QR code in the app to pay & access in-app savings.
When trying to find my QR code while a long line waited behind me, the pressure of the moment made me realize how
confusing the app could be for in person shoppers.
Problem
Users had trouble locating & using the QR code. The experience didn’t fully consider first-timers or in-person shopper needs.
Mission
My role as a UI/UX Designer was to reimagine the Amazon homepage and "In-Store Code", reducing clutter and updating the visual design to make common tasks quicker and easier
Research & Findings
I conducted 4 user interviews to assess pain points & better understand the shared needs of the average Amazon app user. I also studied comparisons to similar Wallet features from other leading mobile apps. I focused on 3 goals:
1. Seamlessly integrate online and in-store experiences, including easy use of Prime benefits and discounts
2. Navigate the Home page and QR code quickly and intuitively
3. Quickly access content that's useful and less intrusive

Ideation & Design
I translated my findings into solutions by streamlining the homepage layout and refining both the Homepage & QR with clearer placement and modern design elements to create a smoother, more intuitive and familiar user flow.

Initial Testing & Iteration
I conducted a usability test to assess how easily people could navigate a basic 4-step user flow with the initial redesign. Based on this feedback, I made targeted adjustments, refining visual cues and button placements.

The Final Redesign

I conducted usability testing to gather feedback on functionality, clarity, and overall flow. User insights revealed areas where the interface could be more intuitive. This iterative process ensured that the final experience wasn’t just visually appealing, but also genuinely effective for real user experiences.
